After 9 months of watching what you’ve been eating, you may think that after you give birth, you have license to eat whatever you want. However, what you eat during breastfeeding is just as important as during your pregnancy, because what you eat has a direct impact on the health of you and your baby.
The CDC recommends that breastfeeding parents take in an additional 330 to 400 calories a day, and it’s important that those calories come from healthy, nutrient dense foods that give you and your baby all of the nutrients you both need.
Here are a few guidelines about what types of foods to eat more of when you’re breastfeeding, and some to avoid.
